A day of History

M and D, today is quite a day that doesn't involve you directly, I know hard to believe. It does involve you, because it shows if you believe you can achieve anything with hard work and dedication.
As your grandma, I have witnessed the change in this country, and I know you will have every opportunity you want to have in front of you. I met your grandpa on the day MLK was assassinated, today was a much better day in history.

Here is your picture witnessing history. I understand that dad worked very hard to get this just perfect for the memory books. Thanks dad.

Eight Months Old Today

What can I say? Cupcakes last month, my next promise to them was Popsicles, which I was able to deliver today.

M wasn't too sure, until she could control the situation by holding it herself.

D enjoyed his and kept sticking out his tongue for more.

In the last month, they realize when they are not the center of attention. If you are holding one and not paying any attention to the other one, the stare down from the one not getting the attention is intense. It really is very funny to watch their reactions to each other. Dad was holding one today and the other one just started crying or pouting. Insert either initial, they both act the same way. Sibling rivalry at 8 months, who knew?

M is ready to crawl, she is up on her hands and knees, rocking, it will be any day now. D is still trying to figure it out, he gets mad because he can't get to what he wants, but he is also more willing to have someone get it for him. He'll get there his strengths are different. He likes to study and contemplate how something works, and he loves books.

M displayed more of her independence this week, when she took the spoon from dad and fed herself! She really did a good job, she just didn't know how to hand the spoon back, so she would throw it back on the highchair tray. Dad made a great video of this and if we could shorten it, I would post it. You hear him handing her the spoon, praising her on her great job, then the clunk of the spoon hitting the tray.

M is holding her bottle and D must be thinking, well, if they will hold it for me, I'll do it that way.

We joke about the "lazy boy" that the nurses talk about, but D jumps up and down in his jumpy horse and on your lap. I really don't think he's lazy, he's just great a maniupating the situation to his advantage.

They did get all dressed up for their birthday. The picture of D will be a classic for all of his life, and M couldn't get the tights off, so she was a little upset. We were reminded by Aunt V this week, that M is really a sweet girl. We all admitted that we sometimes forget this, because M has her challenging moments.
What is that quote"I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse?"

Happy birthday M and D!
