Grandma's weekend

Oh my, I have often wondered how mom and dad do it, and now I am in awe. Mom and Dad really have their hands full with the blessing of these two beautiful babies. I am soooo tired, just from helping out on a weekend, I really don't know how they do it.

M and D have been crawling for a while now, but not out of the toy room, D would stop at the door. Friday right before I stopped by, M and D decided to to get adventurous, and Dad took the pictures. D was leading the way, and M being a little more apprehensive, would sit and ponder, look at dad, then follow the leader. As we all know, you can't put the cork back in the bottle, so M and D just continued adventures all day. Dad did show me how to build a blockade, which helped a lot. D would try to figure a way around, but was usually unsuccessful. Dad did go shopping for the gates and cabinet locks, which caused M and D a great deal of concern. M looked at the gate, tried to get D to come see it, but he was on his way out. M sat and talked to the gate and to me, then finally went up and touched it, to see what it was all about. D had around a 10 minute conversation with the cabinets, and all I could understand was dada, if only the cabinets could talk.

While dad was at the store, he also found some treats that M and D could eat, so they sat in their chairs and enjoyed them. Sunday morning I gave them some, while they sat in their chairs. They really seemed to enjoy them and asked for more, so I gave them some more, then D decided his were gone, he would help himself to M's. caught on film. When I took them out of their chair, they had snacks all over them and the floor.

M and D also got their first juice today, D really liked it, and kept licking his lips. On Sunday, when they had some more, M drank some of hers and D finished his and hers.

Also, M now stands in her bed and here is a picture of her calling over to D for him to wake up and play.

All in all it was a great weekend and being tired is a wonderful gift.

I am unable to get the pictures to move to the right paragraphs and too tired to figure out why.

No Pictures of The Teeth

I know we were all promised pics of D's incoming teeth, but I got to see first hand how D hides them. This is Aunt V who came up for a visit, since I haven't seen these sweet babies since Christmas. When I tried to see D's teeth he would open his mouth and cover up his two teeth with his tongue. I'm guessing we'll all get to see them soon enough, but until then...

I so enjoyed spending time with both M and D. They are both moving around quite a bit and I found it very easy to get smiles and laughs from both. M sang herself to sleep on my shoulder which was very sweet, and D is destined to love the outdoors, he just can't stay away from the windows.

D news

I am falling down on my job. Two days ago D cut his first tooth and today another one is coming through. As I have said in the past D likes to be shy and not let you see what he can do, and the same thing with his teeth, he won't show them to you, unless you really work at it. He does love it when you rub them though.

Nine months old

M and D are nine months old today. M now smiles much easier and will smile right away when you walk into the room. D is starting to investigate by rolling all over the room. You leave him in one place and he rolls somewhere else.

M and D went for their first out patient assessment at the University two weeks ago. They were five months and eleven days old when they went, even though we think they were eight and half months old. We of course think they are doing very well and are so proud of how far they have come, and that was backed up by the testing.They tested out at 6 months and several times the tester, was quite surprised by things they did. Of course we know they are stars!

They both are now saying DaDa, and talk to each other about him. D is affectionate and loves to kiss you, and tries to be affectionate with M, but isn't quite there yet. He pulls her hair, grabs her ear and twist it, so now when D comes near her, she starts with all of the drama of the he's killing me screams, even though he hasn't touched her yet.

They are learning to share, even though they both wants what the other has. I was sitting with them, and actually watched D's eyes light up when he saw the toy that M had. The results of not sharing are below.

This is M's teddy bear.

I wanted to share this beautiful drawing that M and D's friend made for them. It was given to them for Christmas. It is from a picture that was taken not too long after M came home. M had just taken a bath, and was without her oxygen and monitor. It was the first time that M and D were together without any medical equipment.

Tonight their treat was half of a Twinkie, and can I tell you they enjoyed it. M kept sucking her arm after there was no more. They were trying to pick it up from the blanket. Only three months until they get real cake and ice cream. What a party it will be. D was whiny tonight, not a great celebration for him, but the Twinkie did make his night.
